Primark is recalling its HV Pumpkin Plush Gonk and HW Mini Gonk because the sealed sand filling may contain small amounts of asbestos. Stop using them and return them to any Primark store for a full refund; no receipt is needed.

What happened

Primark is recalling its HV Pumpkin Plush Gonk and HW Mini Gonk seasonal decorations. The Office for Product Safety and Standards published the recall on 6 October 2026.

Affected products

  • Primark HV Pumpkin Plush Gonk, model 991179148, barcode 212080261, Kimball no 3933401
  • Primark HW Mini Gonk, model 991174794, barcode 212047125, Kimball no 3260901

The risk

The sand sealed inside the gonks may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure. The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

What to do

Stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. Return it to your nearest Primark store for a full refund. You do not need the receipt. If you cannot return it, contact your local authority for guidance on safe disposal of asbestos. For more information, contact Primark Support or visit Primark's recall page.
